Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) is a company diversity registration designated under the Veteran Benefits, Health Care, and Information Technology Act of 2006 (Public Law 109-461). Registration ensures that companies qualify for preferential procurement for federal contracts if they are owned and controlled by Veterans.
This certification is non-industry specific and requires that the firm meets the small business requirements established by the Small Business Administration (SBA). Additionally, it requires that the company is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a veteran.
Attending the Global Security Exchange (GSX) for the first time was both exhilarating and overwhelming. As soon as I walked into the convention center, I was struck by the sheer scale of the event. The energy was palpable, with thousands of professionals from all over the world gathered to explore the latest in security technology and practices. The exhibit floor felt like a playground for security enthusiasts, featuring cutting-edge surveillance systems, advanced access control, and even drones used for perimeter monitoring. Every turn revealed something new, from interactive product demos to eye-opening presentations on emerging threats and solutions. Despite the size of the event, I quickly felt very comfortable as many attendees were eager to network and share insights, making it easy to strike up conversations and exchange ideas.
What stood out the most was the opportunity to network and engage with key stakeholders. Throughout the event, I had the chance to meet with industry leaders, potential partners, and vendors who were showcasing innovative solutions. Whether it was during scheduled meetings or casual conversations between sessions, the event provided the perfect setting to discuss business challenges, explore new collaborations, and exchange insights on emerging trends. I spent much of my time on the exhibit floor, specifically seeking out new products and technologies that could benefit my clients. From state-of-the-art surveillance systems to advanced threat detection software, the vast range of solutions on display was impressive, and I left with several ideas on how to integrate these offerings into the projects I’m working on.
The networking aspect of GSX truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was professional yet open, making it easy to approach vendors and stakeholders, and the event’s focus on fostering connections really paid off. I participated in roundtable discussions, where I met peers who shared similar challenges and goals, and exchanged ideas on potential solutions. These interactions not only helped me build valuable relationships but also expanded my understanding of the current market landscape. By the end of the event, I had a list of potential products to present to my clients and a network of contacts that will be invaluable for future collaborations.
