Last year, our team attended several presentations that centered around security system integration into unified platforms that result in streamlined operability. While attending, it was easy for us to imagine unifying multiple security software platforms and even hardware to create a customized and functional solution for our clients. However, one often overlooked aspect of unification is the control room and empowering operators with the visibility they need to act swiftly in stressful emergency situations.
The security operation center (SOC) or control room is where all of the data and video feeds come to life. More often than not, operations are busniess as normal. However, when alarms start coming in, it's critically important to have a solution in place that clarifies which alarms need to be addressed first based on processes, policies, and procedures put in place by security and administration leadership. This data flow must be presented in a manner that makes sense tot he operator sitting in from of the screens.
We think about things like:
And, this is not nearly the end of the consideration list. Each of our clients has unique environments outside of their facility, inside of the perimeter, number of operators in the command center, number of integrated systems connected through APIs and other integrations, and much more. Our job is to listen, visit, and understand the complex challenges that our clients face and find creative, trusted methods to solve challenges, streamline operations, and deliver a safer and more secure facility for employees, visitors, students, patients, and property.
